Locked up

Three steps. Then the cell door closes.

AppJail is built on Apple's Screen Time, so iOS itself does the locking. Closing AppJail, or forgetting it is there, does not let anything out.

  1. Pick the inmates

Choose apps, whole categories like Social, or websites. Apple keeps the list private, even from us.

  2. Set the sentence

Evenings, work hours, study time: pick the hours and the days. Overnight windows work too.

  3. Parole, not escape

Really need in? Tap Parole for 15 minutes, then the lock comes back on its own. No mindless reopening.

Start with the rule that fits your day.

Pick a profile when you set up. It gives you a starter rule and a lock screen that talks your language. Change anything later.

Before you lock anything up

How does AppJail lock apps?

It uses Apple's own Screen Time system. You pick the apps, categories or websites, set the hours and days, and iOS puts a lock screen over them during that time. Because iOS does the locking, closing AppJail does not open the cell.

What is parole?

When a locked app is truly needed, tap Parole on the lock screen. The app opens for 15 minutes, then iOS locks it again. Parole is there for real needs, so it takes a deliberate tap, not a reflex.

What is strict mode?

Strict mode is a rule with no parole at all. The apps stay locked until the window ends. It is part of AppJail Pro.

Can AppJail see which apps I use?

No. Apple keeps the list of apps you pick private, even from us: AppJail only receives sealed tokens it can hand back to iOS. There is no account and no server, and the App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.

How much does it cost?

One scheduled rule with parole is free, for as long as you like. AppJail Pro adds up to 8 rules, daily time allowances and strict mode, for $19.99 a year or $39.99 once. There is no weekly plan and no surprise renewal price.

When can I get it?

AppJail is coming to iPhone first. Join the list and we will email you once, on the day it is in the App Store.

Does it work on Android or iPad?

iPhone first, on iOS 17 or later. Android may follow if enough people ask for it: tell us when you join.
